My name is David Schaffer. I will be posting from time to time on themes relating to Lotus Notes/Domino, technology use in professional service firms and small business, and whatever else seems appropriate.
So who am I?
My professional focus is on networks and computers for small business and mobile professionals. My work covers Internet access and e-mail, desktop and network operating systems, IBM Lotus Notes/Domino, Sametime and Quickr, Novell OES, SuSE and eDirectory, application and desktop installation and configuration and end-user training and support. I have over twenty years experience providing systems support, managing servers, performing set up and help desk service for both LAN and mobile/remote users and purchasing and coordinating telecom and Internet access services.
I hold an M.S. in Management Engineering.
Operating as There Must Be A Better Way I provide consulting, support, integration services and product sales to companies and individuals in western Connecticut and southeastern New York. I am also Director of Technology for Schaffer Consulting, a management consulting firm in Stamford, Connecticut. This is a relatively small firm serving very large corporate, government and NGO clients. This presents an interesting technical challenge, bouncing between the small business and the enterprise mindset on a regular basis.
